Ruby's done so much "power walking" in the wake of the Shetland's trot that she is very hard and fit, and lean as a racing snake! I was hoping to get to 400 hours before Deb, but I see she's back on the trail and got there already - WELL DONE DEB!!

No time for driving today though as I am going to visit my 4 yr old grand-daughter in hospital, in Newcastle (about 2 hours away from here). She had her first dose of chemotherapy against a kidney tumour last night so I'm not sure how she'll be. But she is a tough little mite and has been tickling the nurses and cheering everybody up. I'm taking her a glove puppet, and some of Ruby's tail hair done up with a red ribbon.

Naomi has started her chemotherapy. She was enchanted by the Clown Doctors who came to her hospital room this afternoon and whose glove puppets - a Mole and a Loris - talked to the one I'd just brought (a Squirrel called Dale).

We hope she'll be home tomorrow night and after that everything is (relatively) routine. It will of course be a bit of an ordeal, but it's a known set of treatments with a very high chance of a good outcome.

Naomi is home and now has 4 weeks of chemo, once a week, before surgery. Jen and Rob have bought a push chair to take her places without tiring her so much with walking. (Actually I think they have future plans as well...)

Ruby and I, between the thunder showers, have clocked up our 400 hours today.
