Ruby's good deed
We were supposed to be doing walking exercise but Her Ladyship
  had
  the
wind in her ears and when we passed a field containing some ponies she
hadn't seen before she just HAD to show off with her big flarchy trot
and huge snorts. Silly madam. After that she tried to be silly at
every car that passed. On the way back she did the same and at one
point we were trotting so collectedly we were very nearly doing it on
one spot, which felt quite explosive. However, she settled down again
  - she never does get out of control, though it often looks like she
might. In fact, she settled back so well, when we were about half a
mile from home I noticed that someone had un-padlocked, opened and left
wide the little gate onto the main rail line. Knowing that now and
again there are sheep loose on the road I thought that, even if
somebody was working legitimately on the railway, the gate should be
shut. So I swung Ruby round, placed her head-on to the open gate and
said, "PUSH!" and she shut it with her nose.
I knew it would come in handy one day.
